Media & Multitasking

This topic is one that I already am seeing in my classroom. Students want to have their phones in their hands every minute of the day, including while sitting in class where they should be learning. However, this idea is something that students don't seem to understand is an issue. During class I wrote about a peer reviewed article that discussed this point. Children are unable to retain as much date, because they know that they can just look up the concepts quickly later on.
This is something we need to be sure we are making a point to not use as much technology in class. It can be a helpful resource to link really cool concepts, however, students need to be aware of how to learn without technology.
