Employed Youth

The above chart shows the number of youth employed between the ages 16 - 24 in the United States. This was really interesting to see, as well as played on the concepts that we learned during class, especially youth being employed while they are in high school. In class we discussed how being employed can affect the mentality of students while in school, and the video below brings up more aspects that talk about how important it is to empower youth while in school. Although this can cause more stress on youth, I believe it is extremely important to empower them with opportunities to make a change.
This portion of class is something that I believe is important to remember when in the classroom - although it is not "work", it is extremely important to empower our students.
